Lucknow: A joint team of the Lucknow Crime Branch, Crime Team of DCP North, and Madiyanv Police Station has arrested four accused involved in a daylight shooting murder in Lucknow.
Police said illegal firearms, live cartridges and two motorcycles used in the crime were recovered from the accused during the operation conducted on May 18 near the riverbank under Ghaila Bridge.
According to police officials, the case began on May 17 when Ayush Yadav, a resident of the Sairpur area, lodged a complaint stating that his brother Vijay Yadav and his friend Vivek Pandey had recorded a video of three youths assaulting another person. The accused allegedly objected to the recording, abused them, got into a scuffle and threatened them before fleeing the spot.
Around 10 minutes later, two of the accused reportedly returned on a motorcycle and opened fire with the intention to kill. Vijay Yadav sustained a bullet injury to the head and was rushed for treatment in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following the victim’s death, police converted the case into a murder investigation under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Acting on a tip-off, the joint police team arrested four accused identified as Nikhil Pandey, Atul Singh, Naveen Pandey and Rishabh Kumar Shukla.

During the operation, police recovered the weapon allegedly used in the murder — an illegal .315 bore country-made pistol along with an empty cartridge and a live cartridge — from the possession of Nikhil Pandey. Another illegal .315 bore pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from Atul Singh.
Police also seized two motorcycles allegedly used in the crime, including a Hero Splendor Plus without a number plate and another Hero Honda Splendor bearing registration number UP34N3310.
Investigators said further verification of the accused persons’ criminal history is being carried out with other police stations and districts.
The arrested accused include two private security guards, one student and one unemployed युवक. All four were produced before the court after completion of legal formalities.
The operation was carried out jointly by teams led by officers from Madiyanv Police Station, Lucknow Crime Branch and the Crime Team of DCP North.
